Tamworth Dental Care
A Great Dentist

Your First Visit

Before you schedule your first booking with Tamworth Oral Health and Dental Care, you might wonder about what you can expect at your first visit to our Tamworth, NSW dental surgery. If it’s been a while since you last sat in a dental chair, you might even feel somewhat anxious.

We understand those feelings, and we believe that knowing what to expect can help alleviate them—and help ensure your time with us is relaxed and comfortable.

The First Time You Come to Our Dental Clinic

For your convenience, we’ve included new patient forms available for download right here on our website. To save time at your initial appointment, you can print those out and fill them out ahead of time. If you’d rather, you can fill them out at our dental clinic, but be sure to allow an extra 10 minutes or so to do that by coming in a bit before your scheduled appointment.

Don’t forget to bring your photo identification card as well as any healthfund or insurance care you might have.

We’ll ask you about your medical history while you are here, so be sure to bring the following information:

  • A list of medications you are taking, including name and amount
  • A list of your medical conditions
  • A list of allergies, if any

If you have recently had dental x-rays,  it is useful for us to see those. Either contact the dental clinic where they were taken and ask them to forward a copy to us, or you can pick them up and bring them along with you to your appointment.

You can expect your first appointment with us to be a bit longer than normal. Because we value patient education, our dentists like to spend time with you so they can get to know you and address questions or concerns you might have. We believe that informed patients are better able to make good decisions about their oral health.

The Reason for Your Appointment

If you are coming to us for a routine check-up and clean, one of our dentists will conduct a tooth-by-tooth examination, keeping an eye out for any visible dental issues. We might ask to take dental x-rays at your appointment so we can spot problems that are lurking below the surface.

Our hygienist will conduct a thorough clean, the level of which will depend on the state of your gum health.

If you are coming to us for another reason, such as to treat a dental emergency, we will provide palliative care to make you comfortable. We’ll schedule a follow-up appointment should further treatment be necessary.

If you have questions about your upcoming booking, don’t hesitate to give us a call. One of friendly team members will happily answer your questions. We look forward to welcoming you to our Tamworth, NSW dental clinic.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
