General Dentistry

Taking good care of your oral health is a crucial part of taking good care of your overall health. More and more studies are showing that there is a connection between systemic health and maintaining healthy teeth and gums.

At Tamworth Oral Health and Dental Care, we prioritise good oral hygiene as a way to keep smiles healthy. But when dental treatment is needed, you and your family can get the care you need at our Tamworth, NSW dental clinic.

Preventive Care

The best way to prevent dental issues from developing is to practise good home care with regular brushing and flossing. In addition, visiting your dentist twice a year for check-ups and cleans is crucial. Not only will our experienced hygienist clean your teeth, ensuring the removal of any plaque build-up that can cause the development of gum disease and tooth decay, but our dentists will examine your teeth, gums and soft tissues.

Our state-of-the-art dental technology enables us to detect many problems while they are still small. This usually means treatment is less invasive—and less expensive.

At your examination, your dentist will conduct a tooth-by-tooth examination.

  • Checking for early signs of decay, cracks or breakage
  • Checking existing restorations for signs of failure
  • Examining gums to ensure there are no signs of gum disease
  • Looking at the throat, lips and other soft tissues for signs of oral cancer
  • Conducting a jaw joint evaluation

General Dentistry

Sometimes despite the best of intentions, dental issues arise. We provide the following treatments in our Tamworth dental surgery:

Cosmetic Treatment

You might enjoy good oral health but still be disappointed by the way your smile looks. With today’s cosmetic dentistry options, you can—and should—have a smile you are proud of. We offer:

Smile Rehabilitation

Sometimes patients come to us with a variety of dental issues. In these situations, we may recommend smile rehabilitation. This involves several procedures that usually take place over some time, such as several months. We can determine an appropriate schedule of treatment that works for your lifestyle and budget. Based on your individual needs, we will work with you to create a customised plan that takes place over time, so it does not feel overwhelming.

Smile rehabilitation may include a combination of the following treatments:

  • Tooth-coloured fillings
  • Dental bonding
  • Dental crowns
  • Veneers
  • Replacement of missing teeth with dental implants or bridges
  • Teeth whitening

We Are Warmly Accepting New Patients

Whether you need specialised dental care or if you are simply overdue for a check-up and clean, we invite you to contact our Tamworth, NSW dental clinic, to schedule a booking.

We look forward to welcoming you to your new dental home.

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend visiting the dentist twice each year for routine check-ups and cleans. Because preventive care is so crucial to your oral health, seeing us every six months means our dentists can detect small issues with your teeth and gums before they become big problems. When we spot dental issues earlier rather than later, treatment is almost always less invasive.

Putting off routine dental examinations is often the cause of an emergency visit to our Tamworth, NSW dental clinic. For example, without a dentist checking the health of your teeth and gums, a small cavity that can easily be resolved with a filling might get so large that bacteria gets into the root of your tooth. What could have been a routine filling now becomes a painful toothache that needs a root canal.

Our dental surgery is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and we are open through the lunch hour.

We accept all major health funds, as well as the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) and the Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS) government scheme. When paying your portion for treatment, we accept a variety of different types of payments, including

  • MasterCard
  • Visa
  • HICAPS
  • Debit card
  • Cheque
  • Cash

Yes, we are. As long as you are eligible and we have the sighted letter, we accept all children under the CDBS scheme.

It’s crucial that children start coming to the dentist while they are still young to help them establish good habits for the future. Kids who start visiting the dentist regularly tend to grow up to be adults who do the same. This means a lot for the future of your children’s oral health.

We recommend children come to the dentist on the same schedule as their mums and dads: twice a year for check-ups. As kids get older, we will also clean their teeth and take the appropriate dental x-rays.

We offer preventive dentistry for children at our Tamworth, NSW dental clinic, including fluoride treatments and dental sealants. Both of these can help prevent the formation of cavities.

As your family dentist, we welcome your entire family, and we are experienced in dealing with dental issues that impact every age group. Starting your little ones off on the best path to oral health by taking them to the dentist early is a good way to establish good habits right from the start.

The dentists in our clinic— Dr Raghu Vangala, Dr Shabana Vangala, Dr Mervin Liang, Dr Amy Badenoch, Dr Deepthi Healy and our OHT Sarah Stone — all have their own specialties. These range from general six-month check-ups all the way to more complex dentistry such as dental implants and grafting—and everything in between. This means our patients can receive the most comprehensive dentistry all under one roof. We can also see every member of your family, from the oldest to the youngest.

We offer the following general dentistry treatments:

  • Preventive care
  • Tooth-coloured fillings
  • Root canal treatment
  • Extractions
  • Crowns and bridges (including same-day CEREC crowns)
  • Dental implants (including All-On-Four dental implants)

If your oral health is already good but you don’t like the way your smile looks, we also offer cosmetic dentistry:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Veneers
  • Dental bonding
  • Dental crowns
  • Smile Rehabilitation

We recommend coming in twice each year for routine examinations and dental cleans. This enables our experienced team to help you stay on top of your oral health. Seeing us regularly means we can detect small issues while they are in their earliest stages—before they become big problems. It also means we can check your gum health and screen for oral cancer.

We warmly welcome new patients to our Tamworth, NSW dental clinic.

We accept all major health funds, and are preferred providers for BUPA, HCF and CBHS. As well as the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) and the Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS) government scheme.
